I know I just posted an image earlier, but I did not think I would work on this today. But since I did I wanted to just post another update on this type portrait that is a little bit fuller than the last one I posted earlier.
I just wanted to post what I have been working on the past week outside of class. This is a typographical portrait of myself using the words creative, artistic, and genius. This is just a little of what I have done and still have awhile to go, but I wanted to post and show the progress.
This is an update on what all three of my stationary look like and how they relate together. I wanted to keep everything crisp and clean since the logo was so crisp. To do this, I kept the same orange, white, black, and some gray, on all three pieces so that when one person looked at one piece of stationary they would automatically realize that it belongs with the other pieces and to my specific company.
I have one idea for the letterhead so far that I felt like posting up on the blog. This is just the front where i used the logo orange to make two bars on the top and bottom with the logo and image from the business card on opposite sides. I have an idea for the back if we need a back to our letterhead which I will post early next week.
This is just some initial business card ideas I had at the bottom. The top image is what I'm going to focus on for the business card. I have to front ideas along with 8 back ideas playing around with different record images and placement.
For this project, we had to illustrate a poem using only type. I chose a poem called "A Sick Rose" by William Blake. My concept was to take the rose looking like it was sick with a rain cloud raining down on it using the line from the poem "Howling Storm." The idea for the rain cloud was inspired by cartoons where the character is followed by a rain cloud no matter where it goes, which is why there is only one small cloud coming into the piece from the top left corner.
i am still struggling to come up with a solution to my type calendar cover spread. i came up with a few more ideas, two different styles, that i just wanted to post on the blog and hope to get some good feedback. i changed the type in the background from the previous post to a cursive font to achieve a handwritten feel and a softer look. on the other design, i went with a maze background in white on a light grey background with the text over that just to keep everything more unified.
so here is the final version of my event poster for the fox. i added one more cloud detail to balance the overall design as well as tweak the handle of the umbrella to make it a more smooth curve. i am very happy with the turnout especially since it took me quite awhile to finish it.
i just wanted to post an update on the cover i did for my type calendar. i added the date with a single statement at the bottom opposed to what i had before when i tried writing a statement in the format of the maze.
this is just some more work i have done on the mary poppins event poster. i added an umbrella and some minor textures. i also added the information on a single line at the bottom feeling it fit most without giving up anything on the composition.
So this is my final logo design for Criminal Records. The logo is very simple just a C and a R rotated a bit to give the feel of motion. My idea came from after speaking with the client and discussing the idea logo being something that everyone would recognize and be able to draw while sitting in class or doodling on some paper. Although it is simple I feel that I made a strong mark making this a strong logo.
I finally put some on the computer. I have three different logos so far that I think with some more work they can be really strong. The color scheme is defiantly not final, I have still not found a defiant color that I think works well with the design.
These are the first stages of my logo rebranding for Criminal Records. I have around 60 initial sketches where I tried to get everything from my brain to the paper. The first couple pages are before I talked to the client and the last few pages are after meeting with my client. I tried to play off positive negative space using just the words and letters instead of a overly graphic approach.
So i think i have the lettering finished with the colors. i started working on the shadows and background which still need some tweaking. i can now start to see the final piece coming together very nice. i still have some work to do and some finer details to add but i think it is starting to look really good and professional.
